Raising awareness to ensure every child can read in Forth Worth

Forth Worth, TEXAS (December 10, 2019) - Kids all across the state of Texas are in the fight of their lives. A fight to read proficiently by the end of 3rd grade. In fact, 71% of 4th-grade students in Texas are not reading at the proficient level.

Because life success is directly tied to the ability to read proficiently by the end of 3rd grade, the futures of local kids like Annie, Jaylen, and Lucas are on the line every year. That is why TCU and Jamie Dixon will host a #Fight4Literacy Game on 1.11.20 to promote childhood reading and raise awareness about the local literacy work of Read Forth Worth

COACHING STAFF SET TO WEAR GREEN AND PROMOTE CHILDHOOD READING

During the #Fight4Literacy the TCU Horned Frogs coaching staff will wear CFL’s #Green4Literacy awareness kit, showcasing a green tie and lapel pin as well as wristband.

Fans can give the gift of literacy to local students in Forth Worth by volunteering their time to read to students at Read Forth Worth. Sign up to volunteer by visiting their website www.readfortworth.org/reading-volunteers.

"We want to encourage our fans to join with us in Coaching for Literacy’s mission to give every child the ability to read,'' said TCU Horned Frogs Head Coach, Jamie Dixon. “Through our #Fight4Literacy Game, we will help young students in our community and create a brighter future.”
